I would love to replace my current management software with Ziptie. I was wanting to know if and when some of these features will be available.
1. Auto Remediation
2. Configuration Backup--Already Available.
3. Working sets
4. Custom Reports
5. Schedule Scripts for device changes
6. Rules for allowed entries in configurations (helps with auto remediation)
7. Policies (same idea as the Rules)
8. Device information--Already Available
9. Change Templates
10. TACACS incorporation (router access and Ziptie login)
These are all of the features I need to replace our current management tool.
Re : Future Features ????
Hi,
We are right planning the features for the next
release of ZipTie as well as for the entire year.
Here is the breakdown as of now :
Scheduling Script for changes is available (as of 2007.12).
We are planning to have some reporting functionality
in the next release (March/April), and some rules/policy
functionality in the release after that (July/August).
Can you provide some more information/use-cases on what
you mean by the following :
- Auto Remediation
- Working Sets (I think ZipTie tags and search can handle working sets)
- Change Templates
Thanks,

Clarification of features
Auto remediation- This has been submitted as Bug 939. Auto remediation if a feature to have the server automatically change parts if not all of the configuration on devices that should not be changed. This is very useful when using access lists that should not be changed.
Working sets- Defined set of criteria (Device type, Administrative IPs, etc).
Change Templates- Used to make mass changed to a set of devices. Working sets assist in this by having a list of devices for the criteria (Pix, JUNOS, ASA, Amdinistrative IP, device model, etc.) The changes are typically scripts to change an access list, flash a device, etc.

You sound like a NetworkAuthority guy ;).
I can't say that we'll ever do Change Templates as NetworkAuthority does them. We have ZipTie Tools and the Command Runner and we'll stick with those for now.
Working sets aren't in our horizon soon either. ZipTie tags should suffice for the time being. Additionally you can define our jobs on a search query so that is much like a working set.
Auto Remediation requires us to have a rules engine of some sort.

I am working on finding a way to help with the auto remediation. I may be able to get a few of our tool developers to help on creating a rules engine and the remediation tool if it is what has to be done to get auto remediation added to a release.
